1. First, open the project that contains the fabrics you would like to add in Quilt Design Wizard.
2. Click the Fabrics tab.
3. Click Fabrics in this Project (green section over on the right).
4. Click the fabric you would like to add to your Favorites to select it.
5. Click the Add to Favorites button.

Repeat steps 4 and 5 until you have all of the fabrics from that project that you would like added to your Fabric Favorites.

Then, to use those fabrics you've added, just click My Fabric Favorites and you'll see them displayed for you to use.

The blocks can be added to the Block Favorites in the same way, just substitute the word Block for Fabric and follow the same steps.

Can I scan my own fabrics and import them into QDW?
No, you can't scan your own fabrics and use them in Quilt Design Wizard. You would need a more full-featured program, such as EQ6, to import fabrics you scan, or get from the Web. EQ6 scales the fabrics for you so your fabrics will look perfect whatever size quilt or block you design.

Can I make memory quilts with photographs in QDW?
No, I'm sorry, but QDW cannot work with photographs. As in the answer about scanning fabrics, above, you would need a more full-featured program, such as EQ6, to work with photographs.

Can I use centimeters?
I am sorry. You can set EQ5 and EQ6 to use centimeters, but not Quilt Design Wizard.

Does this work on Vista?
Yes, Quilt Design Wizard works just fine on Vista. Thank you for asking!

Is there a Mac version?
I'm sorry. Quilt Design Wizard is a Windows only program. We don't have enough people to program for a Mac as well.

How do I export the image of a quilt?
Quilt Design Wizard doesn't have the capability to export images. You could use the Windows "Print Screen" capability and paste that into your image program if you would like. Then you could save the image of your computer screen to whatever type of image file you would like through your image program. The basic steps would be:

1. Open your image editing program. Paint comes free with Windows, and is normally available by clicking on START > All Programs > Accessories > Paint.
2. Open up Quilt Design Wizard and open the project that holds the quilt.
3. Click on the Fabrics or Print tab to see the colored version.
4. Press the Print Screen key on your keyboard.
5. Switch to your image editing program and paste the screenshot in here. Generally, from the top menu, you'd click Edit > Paste, or use CTRL+V.
6. Now edit the image if you would like, and save it in whatever format you want.

Help! I can't print the blocks.
On the Print tab, click on the block in the quilt that you would like to print the block or patterns for to select it. Then the program will know which block you would like a pattern for, and the print and preview buttons will be enabled.

Why is my quilt always "Unnamed" when I print?
To give the quilt a name, right-click on the quilt, and choose Notecard from the menu that appears.

Enter a name for the quilt in the Name field.

Click the X in the upper right corner to close the Notecard.

Now, when you print out the quilt, there will be a name at the top of the printout.

How do I zoom in on my print preview?
The zoom in button works just a bit differently than you expect. You can zoom in on any part of the page you'd like, so you are going to create a box around the area that you'd like to zoom in on.

First, click on the Zoom In button just as you have been. Now, move your mouse so it is at the upper-left corner of the section of the screen you would like to zoom in on. Click and hold down your left mouse button. Drag the mouse down and to the right, forming a box around the area you would like to see larger. When you are satisfied with the zoom in box, let go of the left mouse button.

How do I save fabrics and blocks from downloaded projects to be used in other projects?
The downloads are individual projects. You can't add the fabrics directly to the library, but you can put them in the Favorites sections so you can use them in any project. Here's how you'll add fabrics from the downloaded projects to your Fabric Favorites.

Yes, Quilt Design Wizard works just fine on Windows 7 and Vista.
