How do I open a BlockBase project in EQ5?
These are the same directions as page 5 of your lime-green Design Cookbook.

  1. Click the open a project button.
  2. Click to the Open an Existing project tab, in the bottom-left corner of this tab is a yellow folder labelled "Click here to open a project not listed above." Click the little yellow folder button.
  3. At the bottom of the window that pops up, change Files of Type: from EQ5 Projects to EQ4 Projects. (BlockBase uses the same extension as EQ4.)
  4. At the top of this window under Look in:, click the drop down and change it to the folder where you keep your blockbase files. It is usually either
    C:\BB2\prj
    or
C:\Program Files\Electric Quilt Company\BB2\prj (if you changed the path during the installation)
  5. Find the project, click on it and click Open.
  6. Now that your project is open in EQ5, click File - Save As to save this project as an EQ5 project.

How do I open a Stash shopping bag in EQ5?
These are the same directions as page 5 of your lime-green Design Cookbook.

  1. Click the open a project button.
  2. Click to the Open an Existing project tab, in the bottom-left corner of this tab is a yellow folder labelled "Click here to open a project not listed above." Click the little yellow folder button.
  3. At the bottom of the window that pops up, change Files of Type: from EQ5 Projects to STASH Shopping Bags.
  4. At the top of this window under Look in:, click the drop down and change it to the folder where you keep your blockbase files. It is usually either
    C:\EQ4\Stash\bag
    or
    C:\Program Files\Electric Quilt Company\Stash\bag
  5. Find the shopping bag, click on it and click Open.
  6. Now that your fabrics are open in EQ5, click File - Save As to save this project as an EQ5 project.
  7. You may also want to save this palette in your palette library.

Here's how to save this bag as a palette in the palette library:

  1. Click Libraries - Palette Library.
  2. Click the My Palettes tab (behind the EQ5 palettes tab on the left).
  3. Click Show Sketchbook and Save in the bottom-left of the palette library window.
  4. Give the new palette a name, and click Save on the box.
  5. The new palette will now show up in the My palettes list and you can now load it into any EQ5 project from here.

I opened an EQ4 project in EQ5, but my uncolored block drawings did not show up. Where are they?
In EQ5, all uncolored block drawings get put on the Stencils tab.

Only colored blocks appear on the Blocks tab. You can move an uncolored drawing from the Stencils tab to the Blocks tab. To do this, be on the Quilts worktable.

  1. Click the Set tool to bring up the Blocks palette.
  2. Click the Stencils tab to see your uncolored block drawings.
  3. Click one you'd like to move, to select it.
  4. Right-click. A pop-up menu appears. Point to Move to, and click Block.

Your uncolored block drawing will now appear on the Blocks tab. If you want to set uncolored drawings on your quilt, choose File > Preferences > Layout Options tab. Uncheck the "Prevent uncolored block drawings from being set on layer 1" box.

Can I combine projects?
Unfortunately there is no "automatic" way to combine projects.

The only way to combine projects would be if you recreated the quilts in one of the projects, through a combination of saving blocks and fabrics to the libraries and starting new quilts.

How do I delete a project?
These are the sames instructions as on page 11 of your lime-green Design Cookbook.

  1. Click the open a project button.
  2. Click to the Open an Existing project tab, in the bottom-left corner of this tab is a yellow folder labelled "Click here to open a project not listed above." Click the little yellow folder button.
  3. If you are not already looking in the PJ5 folder or the folder where the project is, change which folder you're looking in by using the "Look in:" box.
  4. Find the project. Click on it, then right-click on it and choose Delete from the menu that pops up.
  5. Click Yes.
  6. Click Cancel twice to get back to the worktable.

Help, I deleted a project, but it still shows up under my "recently used" project list.
The recently used list is a list of 5 projects. If you open 5 other projects, the delete project name will be bumped off the list.

It is, however, truly deleted. If you try to open it from the recently used list you will get a not found message. So don't worry.
