This is a Block of the Month Sampler for Foundation Piecing and Applique.

I enjoy piecing with freezer paper foundations and doing applique with freezer paper on top and on the bottom. This sampler quilt has several blocks that can be foundation pieced, including the Big and Little Point Out borders.

For an entire year, blocks of different techniques can be pieced each month and set together for a quilt coordinated by theme and color scheme.

BABY block of the month for Alayna.
A quilt for my grandaughter who will be ONE in July. I will put her name in this album block.

I enjoyed doing this as my first EQ challenge.

This was my attempt at designing a sampler with EQ5. I have actaually made a number of samplers. I used the hand dyed palette in my quilt as I hand dye fabrics and want to use them more in my quilts but the file was too large to send. I wish I had just a little more time as I am taking Custom Sets with Fran G and would love to design a sampler using the custom set!

I started with a layout from the EQ Layout Libraries - Basics by Style - Off-Center Designs-2. Then I picked blocks from the EQ Block Library - an assortment of Pieced, Appliqued and Paper Pieced to represent the 4 seasons. This version has a cool palette background.

All what I would use for a sampler to teach different ways of quilting.

I had fun with this one. I ended up useing 13 squares, but I had to have my corner blocks on my outer border. I tried to use some colors to give the quilt a little bit of a POP. I think I got it just right.

I decided to make a older fashion on point pattern. I picked out blocks that could have a flowing effect if fliped or rotated, so my quilt could have a flow to it.

This is an exercise using skewed blocks in a Custom Set. The wreaths and 'sashing' are overlaid blocks and all are original but not overly inspired. For me, the tricky part of designing a sampler quilt is to keep the blocks close in theme without letting them be boring -- similar but different. That's the goal, anyway.

There should be something to say about this quilt but nothing is coming to mind. I could say I had fun with this challenge but I say that almost every time. We need to talk about something different. So ... does anyone have any tips for growing rutabagas?

I have participated in three block of the month challenges at my local quilt store (The Quilting Patch). Two of the blocks used here are in the current challenge; most of the others were used in previous challenges. This year we have a choice of white or black backgrounds. You can tell which one I chose.

This quilt was designed as a "thank you" gift for a program chairman. Each month, a guild member makes a block and asks the monthly guest speaker to sign it. The twelfth block has extra signature lines for dates, guild name, etc. At the end of her twelve-month term, the quilt is presented to the chairman as a tangible reminder of the programs that she made possible for her fellow guild members. These autograph blocks are standard EQ5 blocks found in both the Classic Pieced and Contemporary Pieced files.

Boy I take everything so literally! This block-a-month is sort of like a calendar. I wanted to do a Baltimore Album look with applique (since that's my next goal in my quilt-learning process). I think my next quilt will be all sashing and borders, that seems to be a favorite of mine!

Applique is my favorite so I used various applique blocks from EQ5.

I designed this quilt for our own King size bed. The top is completed with a few changes made to the center medallion along the way and it is on the quilt frame being hand quilted. I hope to finish it sometime soon.
