December 2005 Challenge: Square and Point! (Page 1)

"Make a quilt with blocks set "on square." Then use the same blocks and set them "on-point" in a second quilt. You may see a big difference in their presentation! Which way do you prefer? " - Barb Vlack

Two blocks complement for the main part of the quilt. Parts of one block were redrawn to create the coordinating border.

St. Charles, Illinois USA

The change in orientation of the two blocks add even more movement to this interesting combination.

Part of the Square and a Half block was redrawn to create the border treatment.

Putting these blocks on point made a big difference with the border treatment.

I want to try out a block from the
Angel Play by Margaret J. Miller. The fabrics from the same Library.
This one is the "on square".

This one "on point" and also from the Angel Play Blocks from Margaret J. Miller.

I used a modified maple leaf block with sashing and a curved log cabin border.

My DH and I are now traveling full time in a motor home so I am no longer in TN full time. I will sign each challenge I am able to do with the city and state I email it in from. Today that just happens to be back in Cleveland, TN.

I used the same maple leaf block in the center and had fun in the border with the same leaf block but distorted even more.
